The tenant has the right to read and understand any document that requires his signature. The tenant can also obtain a copy of any document that he signs.
The rental unit must be fit for human habitation. There must be adequate hot and cold drinking water, garbage disposal facility, heating, windows, doors, smoke detectors, and bathrooms. Landlords must mend or substitute damaged or broken articles in the house.
Tenants can form or join organizations for the improvement of their conditions and exercise of their rights. So long as the meetings are conducted quietly and during rational timings, the landlords have no right to penalize those who participate in this.
The right to privacy can be exercised by tenants within their property. This tenant right states that the landlord can only enter the premises during an emergency or by providing 24 hours notice to the tenant about his need to enter the building.
Tenant right includes the right to be deemed equal on grounds of color, race, religion, sex, age or nationality.
The tenant right includes the right to get back the security deposit within 30 days of vacating the premises and obtaining details on deductions made from it. This detail must be given to the tenant by the landlord.
